GRASSROOTS CASE STUDIES
These are case studies from a few grassroots cooperatives in Detroit that are Black founded and led. They demonstrate the stories of our struggles and resilience of building the cooperative movement we need for greater and more sustainable economic, social, political, cultural and spiritual liberation. These are the people and institutions doing tremendous work, literally building the worlds we believe are possible.
I’m very conscious of the fact that you can’t do it alone. It’s teamwork. When you
do it alone you run the risk that when you are no longer there nobody else will do it.
-Wangari Maathai
